Herridge Stables
Herridge is a beautiful estate. It has wonderful facilities on which we can train each horse as an individual.
The Stables are in a lovely quiet location. We have different stables to suit different horses. We have an open yard and several barns, that are all well vented with doors either end. There is a grass gallop, and we are fortunate to be able to work the horses from either direction, even starting on an incline. Working horses on grass is invaluble. You can train a horse until there fit on an all weather surface, but many horses struggle when they finally race on turf. Having the grass gallop that stretches for a mile is fantastic to make sure our horses are fit enough to race.
There is a long all weather gallop stretching for 7 furlongs. This runs along side the grass gallop. We are fortunate to also use this gallop from either direction which makes it great for changing the routine of the horses.
There is a short all weather gallop, over 4 furlongs. Along side this is another grass gallop only strecthing for 4 furlongs. There are schooling fences and hurdles running along side. We are fortunate to have a good selection of riders able to school the horses as and when needed.
As well as the gallops we have access to thousands of acres of land where we are able to ride through woods and fields, changing horses minds, keeping them happy and enjoying life.
The strict routine of the racehorse can sometimes lead to boredom and sourness. For us we don't see this as a problem as we are lucky enough to turn horses out on a daily basis, and change there routine, entering the gallops from different directions, or just taking them for a fun ride through the woods where they can experience different scenery.
